Sports Premium

Sports Premium is a government funding provided to primary schools in England to improve the quality of physical education (PE), sport, and physical activity. The aim is to help schools:

  • Increase participation in sports and physical activities.
  • Improve the quality of PE lessons by training teachers and providing better resources.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles among children.

Schools often use this funding for things like hiring specialist PE coaches, buying new equipment, running after-school sports clubs, or offering extra swimming lessons.

The Sports Premium statement is completed on the DfE website before the end of each academic year to share how the funding has been used by school.
